As the leaves begin to turn across Northern Maine, one of Aroostook County’s signature fall gatherings is returning to Big Rock Mountain in Mars Hill. The County’s Fall Festival to End Hunger will take place on Saturday, October 3, 2026, bringing together live music, fall foliage, outdoor recreation, food, and community for a day that also supports an important local cause.
Hosted by The County Federal Credit Union, the annual festival combines the atmosphere of a fall mountain gathering with a mission to help address food insecurity in Aroostook County. All proceeds from the event benefit local food pantries and Meals on Wheels, making it an opportunity to enjoy a day in the County while giving back to the community.
A Fall Day at Big Rock Mountain
The festival offers plenty of ways to experience the season. Visitors can enjoy live music, food trucks, a beer garden, a bonfire, and scenic foliage chairlift rides overlooking the autumn landscape. Outdoor activities also include a charity golf scramble and a guided ATV group ride, giving visitors several ways to spend the day at the mountain.
The festival is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and general admission is $10 for all ages. Foliage chairlift rides are available for an additional fee, offering a chance to see the changing colors from above the mountain.
More Than a Fall Festival
While the scenery and activities make the festival a celebration of autumn in Aroostook County, its purpose extends beyond a day of entertainment. The event was created as a way for The County Federal Credit Union to raise funds for organizations supporting people facing food insecurity throughout the region.
The festival has continued to grow since its launch, raising nearly $50,000 in 2025 for local food pantries and Meals on Wheels.
That community focus is woven throughout the event, bringing together local organizations, businesses, outdoor recreation groups, musicians, and visitors for a shared cause.
