Escape and Experience
Our community feels like home—people know and support one another, take pride in their towns, and work together to make them better. One of the best things about our community is the welcoming atmosphere. Residents greet and acknowledge each other. For example, it is routine for somebody to say “How are you?” in passing, and actually mean it! We value kindness above all else. In the spirit of neighbors helping each other out, small businesses often support our local charities, including programs to assist anybody seeking jobs, fighting illness, recovering from addiction, and anybody who is food insecure, to name a few.
We share our northern border with Canada (Quebec & New Brunswick), allowing for quick trips to enjoy large cultural centers and unique experiences of a lifetime. Whether it is the warmth of a community festival, sporting event, or enjoying the limitless family recreation opportunities, this region values time spent with loved ones.

Some of our community’s favorite perks are our well-maintained parks, community centers, coffee shops, farmers’ markets, and libraries that all serve as social hubs. Our towns all decorate their main streets for the different holidays. Presque Isle even installed large heating lamps on the street for people to hangout during the winter!
Each region of Aroostook County has their niche local traditions and seasonal celebrations. We greatly enjoy our numerous festivals, parades, and fairs that bring our people together. Some of our favorite ones are the Ploye Festival in Fort Kent, the Potato Blossom festival in Fort Fairfield, and the Northern Maine Fair in Presque Isle. See all of our events here!
