Fostering Growth

We are focused on attracting new populations to the region leveraging work and educational opportunities, as well as our superior quality of life. Our communities and area businesses actively develop and support initiatives to increase the engagement and professional growth of our existing population.

Cultivating our Workforce

Our schools are rated among the best in the country, receiving several state and national recognition awards. Our focus on career and technical education (CTE) starting in middle school and continuing through high school complements rigorous college predatory pathways also available to students through our community schools and Aroostook’s Maine School of Science and Mathematics (MSSM).

The Maine Apprenticeship Program offers employers a pathway to develop a skilled workforce or upskilling existing workforce, while providing individuals with paid work experience, classroom instruction, and a nationally recognized credential. 91% of apprentices retain employment after the conclusion of the program, and 89% retain employment for at least 3 years. For employers, this means $1.46 return on investment for every $1 spent.

Ambassador Program

The Ambassador Program in Aroostook County is committed to ensuring that every new resident, visitor, and tourist feels at home right from the start. We connect newcomers with ambassadors who share similar interests and backgrounds, offering a personalized introduction to our vibrant community. Beyond the initial handshake, our ambassadors have a strong network and deep knowledge of the area. They are prepared to answer questions, share experiences, and facilitate a seamless transition into our community.
